Best ways to fight against harmful infections

Tips to prevent infectious diseases? This is no mystery.  It is to have a good immune system. But do you really know how you keep it strong enough to easily fight off the most serious infections?

There are quite a number of tips that can make your immune system stronger and better.

Let’s see what they are;

 (1) Wash your hands

This does not mean just casually rinsing your hands with water. You have to wash your palms, between the fingers, beneath the fingernails, the back of your hands and your wrists with soap for 20 seconds to effectively kill germs.

You can use alcohol-based hand sanitizer in the above steps as well!

Wash your hands before eating or before handling your food, after using the toilet, putting away the trash, after interacting with a potentially sick person, after holding your pet and so on.

 (2) Get enough sleep

Lack of sleep can weaken your immune system. Being sleep deprived can disrupt your normal daily routine as well. For you to keep your immune system intact, you have to get between 6 to 8 hours of good sleep.

(3) Take care of personal hygiene

Although, you wash your hands but if you don’t shower regularly, your immune system won’t be as strong as you would like it to be. Because your skin is an effective barrier between the germs and the inside of your body. Skin is an important part of the immune system.

(4) Take control of your diet

This is the most important part. Without a proper balanced diet, no matter how many times you shower or wash your hands, your goal of developing a strong immune system won’t be fulfilled.

  • A healthy diet should include – Meat, fish, peas, beans and eggs, fruits, vegetables, low fat milk and milk products.
  • Saturated and processed fats and food with high in cholesterol should be avoided.
  • Eat less sugar and salt.

No food group should be eaten in excess or less. Processed, ready to eat, unhealthy, unhygienic, preserved foods should be consumed with caution.

Those with low appetite, under nutrition, and old age might need meal replacements and nutritional supplements. These are prepared with appropriate number of important vitamins and nutrients such as proteins, fibers and calcium. With one serving, these supplements can provide all vital elements for good health.

(5) Reduce stress

Try to ease the tension in your mind. Stop doing things which will induce stress. Stress-induced cortisol hormone can cause eating and sleep disorders which can have negative effects on your immune system.

Now everyone should have a general idea of how to stay healthy and keep fit. Let’s take great care of our immune system to protect ourselves from diseases.
